The DeFazio Family

This year’s event will take place August 14th at Valley View Golf Course and the committee will be donating all proceeds to the DeFazio family.

Michael and Vanessa DeFazio’s 15 year old daughter has been living with Crohn’s Disease since she was diagnosed at the age of 9. Crohn’s is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that is associated with inflammation of the lining of your digestive tract. This condition can cause anything from cramping to rectal bleeding.

In Mia’s case the disease keeps her fatigued, depressed and weak with an inability to take fluids or hold down food. The impact on her body has been catastrophic, at one point dropping to 69lbs. On March 25th Mia had to have a colectomy and has 3 more surgeries planned including on one June 2nd.

Mia is a fighter and the family has fought with her but financially the burden is severe. Constant travel to NYC and Syracuse for appointments and surgical procedures are just some of the costs. This year this committee hopes with your generosity to help ease some of the financial burden for this local family.

During the weeks and months leading up to The Annual East Utica Classic Charity Golf Tournament, the committee members work hard to gather “hole sponsors” and other donations that are needed to help make this event happen.

The committee members continue to be overwhelmed by the generosity of this tight knit community. We hope to continue to receive the support from individuals and area businesses that make this event a huge success.

We are looking forward to this year’s tournament and thank you in advance for any assistance you may offer!
